Power Punching Training

We get alot of questions, how can i have stronger punches?. My punching is weak, i want to have a powerful punch to knock someone out.

Whether you are training Boxing, Muay Thai or MMA, having a serious pack in that punch could change the whole fight. In Boxing you have mayweather and Mike Tyson known for their power punches.

The question now is how do we develop those power punches.

Wrist Strength

Wrist strength is alot more than you would think. Wrist strength is everything even if you can unload power from your hands, having weak wrists will not end up well. Mostly wrist strength is developped with the forarms they are connected and they work together. A good example for training the wrists would be wrists puch up. A good way to have stability in those wrists allowing for your power to be driven well.

Shoulder strength

Shoulder is the engine of power, good shoulder strength is key to power. But having just big shoulder is not the way to go, the key here is explosive shoulder strength. What that means is the ability to drive power from the shoulder. Think of clapping pushups, a great training and an example. You need to drive power from the shoulder to lift you up before you clap and land down. This what explosivity is about, inertia, or explosive launching

Core strength.

In MMA core strength is obvious, no core strength no strength to lift anyone. But that also gets translated in boxing and Muay Thai. Why core strength connect the feet and shoulder together. When you punch you are using your shoulder, your feet and your core. a weak core will diminish your ability to punch effectively. So developing good core strength is essential.

Many exercises for core include ( back, abs, and laterals ).
